PAX AUS 2022 is officially over. It was an amazing weekend, where we got to put our game in front of more than 60(!!!!) players. With such a wide variety of players (including a couple of players who’d never played an TRPG before!), it was so much fun to see the different reactions, the different focuses and roleplay choices. We did see a tendency of groups to solve all their problems with fire (molotov cocktails in the gorge, anyone?), which was both funny and slightly terrifying at the same time.
It was also great to get some validation of the game-design choices, as we got a lot of positive feedback on how easy the rules are to pick up. At the same time, a massive shout-out to all those who gave us feedback on areas where the rules could be tweaked a little for maximum fun and in-game-logic! Thank you so much! And not to worry, we did also take note of all the interest in our little lanterns! Plans are in the works…
In addition to getting to play with so many different people and experience levels, PAX was also a great way to connect up with the rest of the indie TRPG network. Since much of the last few years has been online for obvious reasons, it was amazing to finally be able to meet up with other creators and designers in person, talk shop and swap experiences and advice.
